I think Jussi (Turisas) was flirting with a girl in the crowd at the Southampton gig, kept looking at herr. I am so jealous I could cry!!! =(

Am I the only one remembering Nygård (Heidenfest 2011) saying to London’s crowd we were “retarded” for clapping out of rythm during Rasputin?? For someone who wanted to know about the asshole thing, here is my confession, I left the venue and never listened to Turisas again after that! No matter how Metal you want to be, you don’t insult your audience, leave that to Axl Rose!!

To people wondering what’s wrong with Warlord. I’m glad he’s nice to fans, but, friends’ advice: never WORK with him ;) In fact, never cross the border, stay fans, don’t make Metal your job, don’t fanclub, don’t street team, don’t photograph, don’t interview. Enjoy the music, the “milieu” is shit!

Dark Inquisition! Pagan Metal from Brazil.
Rude comments about the scourge of rabid fangirls make me wonder why on Earth people are so protective. The music will always be there, regardless of how spattered the musicians are with bodily fluids! As long as no one’s harvesting skin or making the musicians themselves uncomfortable, there is no problem! Stop judging other people’s attractions. Get a life!
The only reason I don’t like Týr is Heri’s voice. I like his compositions, some of the songs are really amazing, but his singing sounds so weak to me. If at least he had a deeper voice it would stand out more. A voice like Warlord’s would do miracles for that band.
I finally understand why someone said months ago that the folk metal community on tumblr is intimidating. Just look at us. 400 posts on this blog and the ones getting more notes are usually those that everyone reblogs just to say how the person who submitted them is stupid. If your opinions are so much better than everyone here, why don’t you send them and enlighten us then? We really could be nicer, guys.
I don’t like The Lay of Our Love. The song is really nice but I feel it would have been perfect if they’d chosen a different singer. I mean, Liv Kristine is great, but her voice sound to me as a female version of Heri’s, they’re just too close in style, it makes the song boring. A female singer that could add something new to contrast with his singing would make it a lot better.
I love how Jari and the guys from Ensiferum are still friends. Markus fired Jari, Jukka-Pekka left and was replaced by Sami, who kind of is the frontman now… things could easily have ended badly, we’ve seen it happen with other bands. But there they’re all working together in Sons of Winter and Stars. That’s just beautiful.
Thanks everyone who answered me the other day. A few people said they wouldn’t mind seeing confessions about bands labeled as pagan or viking, but others pointed out it could be confusing as they don’t follow the same basic idea for the music (even though they may all talk about similar themes) — and I have no intention on changing the blog’s name.
So I’ll keep on posting those other bands only if the message is somehow related to folk metal. That means no Amon Amarth, sorry, guys.
People who keep claiming that Mathias Nygård is an asshole: PLEASE EXPLAIN. He was really nice to me when I met him and I’ve never seen him publicly saying stuff that could be potencially offensive to anyone, so I really don’t get it. I understand why someone would say Heri is an asshole (even though I disagree), but what the hell is wrong with Mathias??
I don’t understand why so many people freak out about Wintersun. I enjoy them as much as the next person, but it seems like so many of the fans are obsessed to the point where they get aggressively defensive over the fact that someone wouldn’t die for Jari. Calm down people, Time I was a good album but seriously, relax!
Why the heck has folk metal this sound so beautiful and…I don’t know… primordial? I never knew, but it’s definitely my favourite sub-genre of metal.

I love how female musicians engage in folk metal bands. Usually in other sub-genres of metal you rarely see women, unless they’re the singer and so the primary spot of attention for the band. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with singers, but it’s nice to see women being allowed to simply be musicians because of course they can without it suddenly defining a genre of its own (female fronted…) that is overlooked as unworthy by all the shitheads. No one dares to say Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Turisas or Equilibrium aren’t metal enough.

I’m so in love with the cover artwork for the upcoming Arkona album.
